Concept of development aid and development co-operation
Development cooperation is not Aid. “Aid is what you give to people when they are sick or dying” – Brian Atwood
Types of development aid:
Economic assistance takes the form of providing finance or capital. Technical aid on the other hand consists in providing expertise and training to bridge technological gaps in certain sectors of an economy.
Conditional aid policy is self-enforcing if, at any point in time, the conditions imposed on aid funds are supportable by the threat of a permanent aid cutoff from then onward.
Humanitarian aid is material or logistical assistance provided for humanitarian purposes, typically in response to humanitarian crises including natural disaster and man-made disaster.
Impact of aid on development (including case studies of development aid – positive and negative).
